This course is based on Al-Qasidah Al-Lamiyyah, a short poem by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. Each line ends with the letter “Laam” (Ù„). The poem clearly explains correct Muslim beliefs about Allah, the Quran, the Prophet ï·º and the Day of Judgment, based on the Quran, Sunnah and the early Muslims way.
Course Outline
1. The Right Beliefs (Aqeedah)
- What Ibn Taymiyyah believes about Allah and Islam
- These beliefs are based on the Quran and Hadith, without changing their meanings
2. Love for the Prophet’s Companions
- Loving all the Sahabah (companions) is part of the correct belief
- Abu Bakr is the best of them, then Umar, Uthman, and Ali
- Each companion has a special place in Islam
3. Belief in the Unseen
- Belief in the Day of Judgment
- Belief in the grave (questioning, reward or punishment)
- Belief in the Scale (Mizaan), the Pool of the Prophet ï·º (Hawd), and the Bridge over Hell (Siraat)
4. Belief in Paradise and Hell
- The righteous will enter Paradise
- The wrongdoers will be punished in Hell
- This all happens by Allah’s wisdom and justice
5. Following the Scholars of the Sunnah
- Ibn Taymiyyah says his beliefs are the same as the early Imams: Abu Hanifah, Malik, Shafi’i, and Ahmad
- Anyone who follows their path will be safe
- Anyone who invents new beliefs will be misguided
